Go Ahead Intermediate

Go Ahead Intermediate is the first book in the Go Ahead series. It takes students through the intermediate level at a gentle pace, with material designed specifically for teenage learners.

Each three-page unit is based on a theme such as Unexplained Mysteries, The Euro, U2 (the pop group), Solar Energy, etc. A discussion on this theme leads into a reading passage, followed by comprehension and vocabulary work. Then come exercises on Derivatives (Word Formation) and Phrasal Verbs.

Some units then have Grammar Presentation boxes, followed by exercises; others have grammar exercises only. Then there are short exercises on a number of topics: error correction, sentence transformation, etc. Word Confusion sections (in each unit) focus on the difference between similar words, and sometimes there are also exercises on Pronunciation and / or Prepositions.

The last section of each unit focusses on one particular skill (Listening, Speaking or Writing). Note that students do the Writing exercises on special pages at the back of the Activity Book. Listening Scripts for the Listening sections are in the Coursebook With Answers (for the teacher).

At the back of the Coursebook there is a summary of sentence patterns and sentence transformations.

• Short, three-page units on themes chosen specially for teenagers
• Thorough practice in language skills, vocabulary and grammar.
