English Focus 1
‘English Focus’ 1 is the first level of the two-level coursebook series. New language is presented in a simple but effective way, and all language skills are built up gradually. The Activity Books contain a large variety of exercises.

- a Teacher’s Book containing teaching notes, guidance on classroom procedures, answers to the exercises, extra activities, and photocopiable material for extra practice.
- a Teacher’s Guide with unit teaching plans, lists of vocabulary to pre-teach, extra practice exercises, ideas for further oral work and Photocopiable Material
- An Activity Book with Answers in full color, with answers shown in place.
- Digital Material is containing recordings of all dialogues, reading passages, plus the Listening exercises and the Language Spot pronunciation drills.
- Interactive Whiteboard Software material for the classroom environment
- a Test Booklet with tests on each block of four units. There are three separate, parallel versions of each test, allowing the teacher to give pupils sitting next to each other different tests if desired.
Unit Format
- Each standard unit consists of four double pages. Each double-page spread begins with either dialogue or a reading passage (Listen and Read). This is followed by comprehension questions and discussion points. Note that all these are recorded on the digital. Every fourth unit is a shorter revision unit.
- Then comes a summary of new grammar, with useful summaries in table format and practice exercises.
- This is followed by a variety of exercises focussing on different language skills.
- Finally, there are short summaries of important language points.
- Every third unit in Books is a two-page unit on a topic of interest regarding different countries and cultures.
- In Book One, this unit also contains extra speaking practice. In Book Two, there are extra listening tasks, a short Grammar Review, and a Writing Project.
